SHABOFFICE is a research/design/build practice founded by Shabnam Hosseini. Influenced by modernism and science fiction, the office is focused on notions of craft, iterative design, and fabrication in a diverse range of projects.
SHABNAM HOSSEINI holds an MEng (Master of Engineering) from the University of British Columbia and an MArch (Master of Architecture) from the University of Toronto. She has worked in offices in Toronto and in Europe including Philippe Chaimbaretta Architecte in Paris, SGA/IBI Group Architects in Toronto and the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) in Rotterdam. She was the co-curator of the first official Iranian participation in the 14th International Architecture Exhibition- la Biennale di Venezia. Her work has been published in Log 25 – Reclaim Reis[lience]stance, as well as Bracket 3: At Extremes and exhibited in Toronto and Berlin.
Prior to starting SHABOFFICE she worked as an Architect and Senior Designer at OMA’s Dubai branch where she was leading various projects in the region including the Concept Design Phase of the newly opened “Concrete” at Alserkal Avenue – Dubai’s up and coming cultural district.
She is also a Co-Founder at TRAM (Tehran Robotic Architectural Matters) – a design to robotic production practice based in Tehran www.tramstudio.com
She started SHABOFFICE in 2017 upon her return to Tehran.
